Robbinsdale Academy students are encouraged to participate in a variety of student activities and/or special classes which present interesting learning opportunities.
MAAP is a state run organization offering leadership activities for students attending ALC programs. Highview typicall participates in both regional and state conventions. Students compete with other ALC students from across the state and region in activities such as public speaking, interview skills, team parenting and team decision making, as well as the ever popular Quiz Bowl style competition of Life Smarts!
Students with a job are able to earn elective credit for their work hours and assigned curriculum. Students may also access assistance with job applications as well as locating businesses who may be in the process of hiring.
Career and Technical Classes
Highview students are able to take classes in career areas. Explore opportunities at Hennepin Technical College, MCTC and North Hennepin Community College.
Transition classes are required for all students, which include Personal/Family Financial Management, Personal Wellness, and Career and Educational Planning.
Mini courses may be offered during the school year and also during the summer months. These classes run for 3 weeks, 2-4 hours a day. Field trips, projects, and group activities create an active learning environment and allow students to focus on 1-3 subjects in a concentrated amount of time.
